Had an enjoyable time at the closing night of Carter Sexton’s Robot Show. Met several other robot enthusiast artists, enjoyed some laughs and had wine in plastic cups. Like a BOSS-BOT.

Day of the Robot on the Nerdist Podcast

A Robot Enjoying His Burrito

Greetings Nerdist listeners who have come to see what Day of the Robot is all about.  If you want to see a robot eating a burrito,  here he is.

If you haven’t yet heard the podcast yet, it’s a great one for anybody looking to launch their own creative project, be it a book or an independent film.  Diani and Devine have been through it all and they’ve got plenty of advice for you.

If you like what they’ve got to say and appreciate their valiant effort to bring great things to life by their own bootstraps, get a copy of their feature film, The Selling by Kickstarting their theatrical release!

Check out the video.  It’s cleverly written as always and edited by me!  So please help out the cause and you’ll be indirectly funding more robots creations!

Who would have thought that people so brutal online toward poorly conceived handicrafts are such warm and friendly people to hang out with.  Well I guess I had a hunch or I wouldn’t have gone would I?  Have?

Tokyo DelvesEntering this place is like walking into a giant jukebox – which I believe was the premise for a failed Happy Days spin-off cartoon.

Our HostOur host for the evening.  Despite their over the top raunchy dances, his sensibilities were too delicate to announce our group as “Club Fuckery” as requested.  Instead we were a group of co-workers “from Finland.”  By the end of the eveing he was almost on track, calling us “Regret Website.”

Disney Movie MayhamAnd just in case we didn’t already think we were at the Chuck-E-Cheese of sushi restaurants, the waitstaff was forced to put on an awful lip-synced Disney musical mash-up slash blatant request for us to order more beer and sake.  The Wizard of Oz lion mask utilized for the Lion King number was so faded and disgusting that it actually looks to have been peeled off a dead shut-in.

January 2011

Comedy Team Diani & Devine Day of the Robot is excited to be collaborating on a new project with the comedy writing team Diani & Devine.

In light of the recent news story where Mark Twain’s novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is being modified to use the word “slave” instead of the N-word, Diani & Devine are moving things a step further and replacing the offending word with “Robot.”

It is not an adaptation. Twain’s work will remain as completely untouched as possible, excepting that the character Jim is now a 6-foot mechanical automaton. This book will also feature modifications of the original artwork to include Robot Jim.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn - Robot Version poster prototype
Any illustrator or comic book artist interested in having a book cover in publication? We want to hear from you!

The thrust of the project is to self-publish this rendition of Huck Finn and donate copies to as many school libraries as possible, so they will have yet another alternative at their disposal.
This project is of course intended to satirize the current book-banning situation in the United States and not to deny a beloved character his identity or make light of racism in any way.

Diani & Devine will be reading excerpts from the robot version of Huck Finn at the San Francisco Sketch Comedy Festival.

Day of the Robot is proud to be creating an all-new limited edition maquette of Robot Jim, which will be offered as a pledge incentive for funding this project. So not only can you be a part of making this joyfully irreverent project a reality, but you can have Robot Jim to enjoy for years to come. He will stand on your shelf and remind you every day that you added something awesome to the world.

Visit Kickstarter.com to find out how you can contribute and get your own Robot Jim!
